Preemptive Marriage Session
Before we start any of the Marriage Counseling Session we will consider the situation married couples are up against and the basic understanding that cannot be omitted in a marriage.
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female (Matthew 19:4).
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would (Galatians 5:17).
Thoughts from a true story: A young lady who I’ll call “Jane”, while in high school she wrote in her diary, “I am going to marry the most wonderful Christian man in the world”. After graduating high school she married a divorced man I’ll call “Bob”, who is raising his 3 kids. Shortly thereafter Jane is in prison for killing Bob, the man she married not long ago. Jane testified, “I couldn’t take the beatings anymore!”
Remarks: Life is not funny if you don’t know the rules…the same can be said about marriage…marriage is not happy if you don’t know the rules.
Often we look for many things in marriage but if there is no joy in the marriage it is because certain ingredients are missing.
Is your MARRIAGE on a solid rock or is it rocky!
Is your MARRIAGE full of life or is it it withering away?
- Understanding what is it that cause you to quarrel?
- Did you ever get to the point that it was overwhelming that divorce was the only option? If that is the case, you need a three fold cord, something to hold you together when you both let go of each other!
- What are your concerns?
- Your concerns are important and must be attended too.
Adam was not deceived: I Timothy 2:14-15
I Corinthians 15:22, 45
All die in Adam…
All live in Christ… (the family—Men, Women, Children)
The first Adam a living soul…
The second Adam a quicken Spirit…
A marriage in much more than two individuals repeating vows in front of a minister or judge. It is a stage upon which something creative happens, something that only God can perform. When Eve was first brought to Adam, he said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called women, because she was taken out of Man…and they shall be one flesh” Genesis 2:23-24). These two diverse individuals were melded together into one holy being in the sight of God.
Both men and women must take ownership in the marriage!
Both of them have feelings!
Both need forgiveness!
