SYNCHRONIZING THE FAMILY Scripture: Proverbs 14:11

Family Bread: Understanding the function of the family— it’s design, structure, intent, image, likeness, and dominion – you cannot address or deal with all of the issues a family face without exposing sin. Sin is what brought a separation between God and men. Repentance and worship brings us back to God and voids out the separation.

When it comes to the ministry, when you look around all there might be is you and your spouse. Its not a time to be discouraged but it is when you should be encouraged that Jesus is with you. When Job looked around it was just Job!

JOB’S REMARKS: • Job’s wife thought he should just give up and get it over with. • Job’s friends (the church) were miserable comforters, they were pouring gas on the fire. • Job’s wife questioned Job’s impeccable integrity towards God. • Job’s friends questioned his confidence toward God and his trust in something besides God. • Job was not praising and singing praise to God, it is at that time Job learned to worship. What does it really meant to worship! His inter-soul was troubled. Therefore, he raised a very profound question saying, “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come” (Job 14:14). The question came and then a heroic display of integrity and confidence surface; “all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come”. This is a form of worship.

• WORSHIP; “And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” (Job 1:21).

The primary focus of both Jacob and Job shared: Worship rather than praise and singing.

FAMILY BREAD: Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown in prison and they began to praise and sing praise unto God. (See Acts 16:16-32.) This was part of the ministry, “turning the cheek”. When any Christian believer reach that level as Paul and Silas, they should be doing the same thing as Paul and Silas. Their souls were not shaken, their confidence was not in question and their integrity as well stood superb. Furthermore, they had each other to lean on as their confidence in God increased.

JACOB’S LADDER “And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 28:12-14)

• God was with Job but we see here that God expressed His purpose and intent to Jacob. • God would was with Jacob as He was with Abraham and Isaac. • The families of the earth are now being blessed through the seed of Jacob. • Although, the promises of God were made to Abraham, He now makes them with Jacob. • The ladder was founded in the earth but it reached heaven. • God’s heavenly host moved up and down the ladder. This was the climax that synchronized Jacobs cognition.

“And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first” (Genesis 28:20-22).

• Jacob learned the true meaning of worship. He was not praying and singing praise but he built an altar and acknowledge the present of God in a fearful and dreadful place. He changed the name of that place to Bethel from Luz. Abraham being in similar situations built many altars and worshiped before God. • Bethel was called the house of God for it was to be as the tabernacle of God that flourished. • Bethel was also called the gate of heaven because of the ladder that reached heaven. • Nonetheless, we (believers in Christ Jesus) are the tabernacle of God and so being, wherever the people of God abide, God will also be there. • Bethel is not a New Testament word because Jesus has promise that he will be with us always, even unto the end of the world. • We have a comforter that leads and guides us into all truth. (See John 14:26, 15:26.)

“And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee” (Genesis 28:16-22).

JACOB’S VOWED FOR ASSURANCE: The Lord Shall be my God 1. God must be with me 2. God must keep me in the way that I go 3. God must provide me with bread 4. God must provide me with clothing 5. God must see that I return again to my father’s house in peace 6. The altar of stone shall be called God’s house…(a worship place, the tabernacle that flourishes) 7. Jacob to give a tenth back to God

{Notice that the tenth is not mandated by God but it was Jacob’s on doing and a vow that he made in spite of God’s promises. Abraham also gave a tenth to Melchizedek. Again it was not mandated by God but it was in the heart of Abraham to do so. Truly, God is not looking for your tithes he is looking for a circumcised heart, men are looking for your tithes.}

It is reported that Churches are putting people out if they are not paying tithes and they are also sending bills to collect money from their members. The spirit and deeds of the Nicolaitans are at work in these man-made places. They can put people out of their buildings but if Christ be in them, that is the Church, they cannot put Christ out. We have the promises of God! God synchronized the family rather than displacing the family (the seed of Abraham). If pastors are having problems meeting their financial obligations, then they also must do as Jacob and worship. They must sanctify their own tabernacle rather than turning to the deeds of the Nicolaitans. “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life” (2 Corinthians 5:1-4). Sanctify your tabernacle in worship when you are in a situation beyond your understanding and you know it cannot just be ignored. Let the Lord be your God for He lives in you by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is, “A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man” (Hebrews 8:2).
