PROTECTING THE FAMILY OVER THE HOLIDAYS

A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

“And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. Verily I say unto you, all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith so-ever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation” (Mark 3:26-30).

There has been many instances…situations were questions have been asked “why didn’t ACLU get involved? Well, the Bible has the answer “if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand”. ACLU is not in the business of supporting godliness and religious liberties.

A house that is divided is like unto a family that is divided, it becomes a great divide, a gap that must be bridge. Even Satan, the Devil and his angels cannot stand if they are divided. It is the faithful believers in Christ Jesus who divides Satan and His crew. It is written that “The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways” (Deut. 28:7). “ Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Mat. 18:18).

Now then, what is the glue that holds the family together before it reaches a point of no return and what can be declared a point of no return? The “strong man” by most would be thought of as the man of the house. In a literal since I would agree it is given to the man to protect the family and his home. In many of the Middle Eastern States a single woman without a husband is extremely infamous and insecure in public and the home. “Thus saith the LORD; cursed be the man that trusted in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departed from the LORD” (Jer. 17:5).

Nonetheless, a “strong man” is one that is filled with the Spirit and wisdom of God. Leadership in the home begins with the Spirit of God. The Epistle of Romans gives us a powerful indication just how important it is to have the Spirit of God. Without the Spirit of God we are weak and malnourished, we are already dead in our sin and trespasses. Is there a strong man…let him walk after the Spirit of Christ, let him mind the things of God, let him be spiritual minded and not carnal minded, let him be subject to the law of God so that he/she may please God, let those filled with the Spirit pray for the family and pray with the family. Covenant your family in prayer commending them in the Spirit of Christ!

“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelled in you” (Romans 8:9-11).

Rejection of the Holy Spirit is a sure rejection of God and the rejection of the Holy Spirit is equivalent to blasphemy because you cannot be saved without it.
