It is Daniel's character which caused him to be remembered. Although he lived under the most adverse and discouraging condi­tion, he never compromised with sin and idolatry, standing tall and straight in the midst of pagan darkness. This is why he became a favorite of heathen kings. These same characteristics resulted in him being so honored by God that Jehovah once sent a special message that Daniel was "greatly beloved" (Daniel 10:11).

The importance of this book can hardly be overestimated. It has been attacked more than any other book of the Old Testament. The fierceness of these attacks is proof within itself of just how impor­tant the enemies of God's Word consider this prophecy to be.
